The Innovation Grants program supports projects in areas such as small business, technology, transportation, agriculture, local manufacturing, creative industries, workforce development, circular economies, and product development. Applicants should identify a known community need and propose an innovative solution that has demonstrated success elsewhere or can be adapted to benefit Kauaʻi.

The program is designed to strengthen Kauaʻi's agricultural economy by investing in projects that expand commercial farming and ranching operations, increase food production, improve business sustainability, and encourage innovation across the island.

Funding is intended for community events, educational programs, Native Hawaiian cultural initiatives, and projects that strengthen Kauaʻi’s sense of place while supporting responsible visitor management and community well-being. Projects may include cultural festivals, performances, workshops, educational activities, community events, Native Hawaiian cultural programming, and other initiatives that preserve and share Kauaʻi’s rich cultural heritage while benefiting residents and supporting County and community goals.

Kauaʻi Small Business Energy Efficiency Grant (SBEEG) program is intended for small businesses, who may face more upfront financial hurdles when retrofitting, including 1. air conditioning, 2. motors, 3. lighting controls, and 4. refrigeration.
