New Transportation Website Launched

The County of Kaua‘i’s Office of Economic Development announced the launch of a new website aimed at informing both visitors and residents of the various transportation options available on Kaua‘i. The new website, GetAroundKauai.com, was created in response to the current rental car shortage on Kaua‘i, but has a broader goal of providing people with the resources they need to make more sustainable transportation choices.

Kauai moves to Tier 5

Governor David Ige approved Mayor’s Emergency Rule #19 Amendment #4 last week. The amended rule sets Thursday as the date for the County of Kaua‘i to move to Tier 5 on the Kaua‘i Business & Recreational Guidelines for COVID-19 chart, as the state reaches the previously announced milestone of 60 percent of residents fully vaccinated.

Pua Loke Street Affordable Housing

– The Kaua‘i County Housing Agency announces applications are now being accepted for the Pua Loke Street Apartments, the county’s newest affordable housing development in Līhu‘e. Prospective residents can apply at https://www.eahhousing.org/apartments/pua-loke/. All completed applications received by 4 p.m. on July 16, 2021, will be eligible for the lottery. The lottery for new applicants will begin July 19, 2021. Applications received on or after 4:01 p.m. on July 16, will be processed according to the application completion date

End of Inter-county travel restrictions

Gov. David Ige today announced the end of all restrictions for inter-county travel, starting June 15. The decision to terminate testing/ quarantine requirements comes as the State of Hawai‘i approaches the 55% vaccination rate. As of today, 52% of Hawai‘i’s residents have been fully vaccinated.
