Story – Shioi Construction

Shioi Construction, Inc. is a commercial construction company that started as a kama`aina family business in 1948. Today, it has grown into a 100% Employee Owned company and encompasses a drywall division, Creative Partition Systems. With more than 250 team members and seven decades of contracting experience, Shioi Construction has left an imprint on the development of Hawai`i’s past and present in the hospitality, residential, healthcare, government, and recreation industries. Shioi Construction, Inc. and Creative Partition Systems care deeply about the communities in which they serve. The companies take special interest in education and healthcare by supporting schools, internship programs, and youth organizations. The Kenneth Shioi Memorial Scholarship provides financial awards annually to students pursuing careers in the construction industry. Additionally, the companies’ team members actively participate in a variety of nonprofit organizations as board and committee members, coaches, donors and volunteers.

In June 2020 during the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, Shioi Construction offered several of its carpenters to Wilcox Medical Center and Kaua`i Medical Clinic to help them with repair and maintenance projects throughout the campus. The donated time equaled to 388 man hours, a $37,000+ value. “We were pleased to provide these services to the hospital and clinic in appreciation for the care and critical lifeline they provide to the Kaua`i community,” said Shioi Construction President Roy Shioi. “We are especially grateful for the many healthcare workers at Hawai`i Pacific Health as well as all organizations that make the health and safety of our community a top priority, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic. Mahalo from all of us at Shioi Construction and Creative Partition Systems!” For more information about Shioi Construction, visit shioihawaii.com.
