Hua Moon Women’s Health
Hua Moon Women’s Health has been in business since 2014 under the leadership of Sharon Offley and Colleen Bass. They offer comprehensive health care for women, by women on Kauai. Prior to the Rise to Work program, they had a small team including Sharon, Colleen and their office manager, Diane.
Through the Rise to Work Program, Hua Moon hired a grant writer, a marketing professional, and clerical support. In creating these positions, Huamoon not only provided an opportunity for three women to return to work, but they also expanded their capacity to serve the health needs of women on Kauai.
The team now includes Anuenue, Jade and Susan, who have been helping Hua Moon by researching and applying for grants and exploring outreach and new partnerships that benefit the entire community.
Anuenue was hired as a Grant Writer. Prior to the pandemic she had a gallery in Po‘ipū selling her hand made jewelry and running her own business called Outer Reef Jewelry. Being a tourist based business, she found herself without any sales and a whole lot of inventory so she needed to find another stream of income quickly. Finding, researching and applying for grants is time consuming and Anuenue was more than happy to take on this task as something Sharon wish she had more time for.
Jade was in Sales at the same gallery as Anuenue. She is now the Marketing Professional for Hua Moon Women’s Health and is happy to add some value of her sales and marketing aspects into her new job.
Susan was laid off as a part time Librarian Assistant. Now she’s able to provide Clerical Support and other duties as assigned to assist in any which way she can.
Thanks to the efforts of these Rise to Work hires, Hua Moon has been able to pursue some of the things they always envisioned for their business. Sharon is so happy to be a part of the Rise to Work Program and feels it’s a blessing.
