Rent Relief & Housing Assistance Program

September 8, 2020

The State of Hawaii’s Rent Relief and Housing Assistance Program provides assistance to renters who have experienced a reduction in income due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are at risk of eviction. The program provides monthly rental assistance of up to $1500 per month for eligible Kauai households for rental payments from August 1st until December 28th, 2020. The program is administered by Catholic Charities Hawaii and Aloha United Way. For information, visit: https://www.hihousinghelp.com/

UPDATE! – Aloha United Way has reached processing capacity and will not be able to accept new applications due to the exceptionally high volume of applications received.

If you have already submitted an application through AUW or KGEFCU, it will be processed in the order it was received. To help process your application in a timely manner, we ask applicants and landlords to quickly respond to calls and/or emails requesting information.

“KGEFCU partnered with Aloha United Way on the Rent Relief Program to help Kauai households obtain relief funding.  Building capacity to infuse more relief funds for Kauai families is our priority during these challenging times. We are doing everything we can to help our island obtain additional relief funds. Mahalo for your patience and understanding as the state attempts to process thousands of applications in a timely manner.  Together, we will get through these unprecedented times.”
