Mayor Derek Kawakami convened the Kaua’i Economic Recovery Strategy Team (KERST) to develop recommendations for priority strategies for specific business sectors on Kaua’i. The initiative was organized into committees representing these sectors and included Agriculture, Business, Construction and Public Works, Education, Finance, Future: Sustainability and Technology, Public Health, and Tourism. The goals of the task force were: 1) to provide recommendations for actions that can be taken immediately to respond to the COVID-19 crisis and its impact on Kaua’i’s economy; and 2) to begin the development of a longer-term vision of our island as part of a post-COVID-19 recovery.
