Show how friends, family, or even animals can team up to protect Kaua‘i from the beetle.
Rooted in Resistance: Art for Action
Use visual storytelling to show what’s at stake and how young people can lead change.
Mediums Accepted
- Drawing, paintings, digital art, collage, sculpture, mixed media
- Students may use any medium of their choice, including traditional or digital mediums, as long as the artwork is:
- Original work created by the student
- Not AI-generated
- Does not include traced or copied images
Eligibility:
- Open to all Kauai students in grades K-12
- Judged in grade categories: K-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12
Submission Requirements:
- Take a photo or scan your artwork (JPG, PNG, or PDF)
- Upload photo or scan and complete the online entry form with parent/guardian permission requirement.
- Submit by 5/19/2025
- DO NOT PUT ANY IDENTIFYING INFORMATION ON THE FRONT OF THE ARTWORK
Judging Criteria:
- Creativity and originality
- Relevance to the theme
- Visual impact
- Artistic skill (appropriate to age level)
Winners Notified on May 23, 2025
- 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners will be selected for each age group.
- Age groups will be judged in four separate categories
- Kindergartener – 2nd Grade
- 3rd -5th Grade
- 6th – 8th Grade
- 9th -12th Grade
