Hurricane Resource Centers
Hurricane recovery resource centers now have in-person help with unemployment insurance and SNAP benefits.
Staff from the State Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) will be on site to help residents with unemployment insurance applications:
Hanalei Neighborhood Center: Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21-22 Kōloa Neighborhood Center: Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 23-24If you’ve had trouble applying online, the County encourages you to stop by and meet with DLIR staff in person.
Staff from the State Department of Human Services (DHS) will be at both the Hanalei and Kōloa centers on Tuesday, Sept. 22, and Thursday, Sept. 24, to provide in-person support with SNAP benefits.
Resource centers are open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other agencies may also be on site to help, depending on the day. These may include:
- County of Kauaʻi: Housing, Mayor’s Office, Elderly Affairs and DMV
- Department of Health: Public Health Nursing and Behavioral Health
- Project Vision
- Child & Family Service
- Catholic Charities
- The Salvation Army
Services vary by day and are subject to change.
Hanalei Shuttle Services:
In Hanalei, The Hanalei Initiative runs an hourly shuttle to the Hanalei Hurricane Resource Center, starting at 9 a.m. from The Hanalei Colony Resort.
