The Hawaii Department of Agriculture’s Hawaii Produce Safety Program is hosting an upcoming FDA-approved Produce Safety Alliance Growers Training. This training is being taught in collaboration with the University of Hawaii’s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resource’s Extension Agents. The course will be taught on Zoom on February 20-22th, at 4-7PM on all 3 days. The class will cover 7 topics, including:
- Introduction to Produce Safety
- Worker Health, Hygiene and Training
- Soil Amendments
- Wildlife, Domesticated Animals and Land Use
- Agricultural Water
- Postharvest Handling and Sanitation
- How to Develop a Farm Food Safety Plan
This training satisfies the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirement for covered farms that “at least one supervisor or responsible party” completes “food safety training…recognized as adequate” by FDA (21 C.F.R. §112.22(c)).
